General Motors is set to announce a $450 million investment in the CAMI plant in Ingersoll, Ont. on Thursday. (The Canadian Press)
The Globe and Mail reports that General Motors will invest more than $450 million at its Cami assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ont.
The Cami plant makes Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain crossover utility vehicles and the investment would secure about 3,000 jobs, according to the Globe's sources.
The sources say General Motors will make the investment without financial help from either the federal or Ontario governments, which helped bail out the company during the last major downturn.
The report says GM Canada is scheduled to announce the investment today at an auto show in Toronto.
